My Experience at Salsa Tapas & Grill Portuguese Restaurant in Southend

Salsa Tapas & Grill Restaurant

First Impressions

Salsa Tapas & Grill: The restaurant had a cosy, authentic vibe. Traditional Portuguese décor covered the walls.  Soft Porduguese music played in the background. The decor featured rustic wooden tables and colourful tiles. The smell of grilled seafood and spices filled the air.

The Welcome

A friendly host greeted us at the door. They seated us quickly near the window. Our server explained the menu with enthusiasm.

Authentic Porduguese Cuisine

The Food

One of my companions ordered a selection of Portuguese tapas. The grilled sardines were fresh and full of flavour. The Croquettes de Bacalao was cooked to perfection. Another two of my guesses ordered a fillet steak accompanied with Mushrooms and mash potato cooked to her taste. My wife ordered the Espetada de Franco e Chorizo and I ordered Monkfish a la gallega accompanied with fresh vegetables and Porduguese style rice. It was delicious.

The Drinks

We ordered a carafe of Sangria, It was so good it went down very quick so we ordered a second. It was the best sangria I ever taste. The Portuguese sangria had a delicious fruity taste.

The Service

The staff was attentive and cheerful. They explained each dish clearly. They kept our water glasses full at all times.

The Highlight

The Espetada de Franco e Chorizo amazed us. The sauce was rich and full of fresh chunks 0f Chicken served hanging on the spit. It was delicious. The presentation was excellent.

My Experience

Dessert Time

We shared pastéis de nata (custard tarts). The pastry was flaky, and the custard was creamy with a hint of cinnamon and we finish with a coffee liquer.

Final Thoughts

Every dish tasted fresh and full of Portuguese flavour. The atmosphere made us feel like we were in Lisbon. We left completely satisfied.

Would I Return?

Definitely! Salsa Tapas & Grill offers an amazing taste of Portugal. I’m already planning my next visit to try more dishes.
