I found my perfect summer drink. A refreshing, sweet and delectable strawberry. This chilled red lemonade will certainly put you on your feet during the heat wave. I simply can not stop drinking it right now, so my fridge doors practically just stays open. Served with pieces of strawberries and ice cubes not only tastes good, but also looks interesting. You always can mix it up with some vodka to get an “adult” version, and with the amount of vitamin C, you do not have to worry about a hangover ;).
Recipe found on blog AlaskaFromScratch.
- 4 cups of water
- 1 cup of sugar (I used 3/4 of cup)
- 500g fresh strawberries
- 1 cup of freshly squeezed lemon juice
- zest of 1 lemon
- pieces of strawberries, lemon slices and ice to serve
In a saucepan mix 2 cups of water and sugar. Stir while heating until the sugar is dissolved, set aside to chill.
In the meantime strawberry stems and blend fruits together with a glass of water.
To the pot with chilled sugar syrup add remaining water, pour strawberry puree and lemon juice. Add the lemon zest, optional pieces of strawberry and lemon slices. Before serving chill in the refrigerator.
